Sometimes recipes look so easy you start to think “Oh, this cannot be good.” This recipe is not like that at all. Trust me. Thank you Pinterest for holding on to this till I got brave enough to try it. Homemade Flour Tortillas will make your Taco Tuesday be over-the-top fantastic!
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (plus some extra for the board to roll)
3/4 tsp kosher salt
3 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into small pieces (cold)
1/2 cup cold water
In a wide bowl or food processor, add flour and salt. Mix well to combine. (using a whisk does a nice job of this)
Add in small pieces of butter and mix (with clean hands or pulse in processor) till it resembles crumbs.
Slowly mix in water until dough holds together.
Knead 10-15 times until dough forms smooth ball.
Cover with plastic wrap and let stand 10-20 minutes. (I let mine stand for 20.)
Evenly divide dough into 8 pieces and form into round balls.
Roll each ball into 7-inch rounds on lightly floured surface. (Keep rest covered to not dry out.)
Cook rounds on griddle over medium heat. 2-3 minutes per side. (Does not need cooking spray.)
Repeat till all balls are used.
This was incredibly easy to make, even with a one year old running around my feet and trying to push me around the kitchen. There were no mixed results on this. We all loved them. I no longer have a desire to buy store-bought tortillas ever again.
Super easy to make. Delicious. Whole-family approved. (Yes, even my one year old enjoyed it.) Tastes better than store bought.
None. No really, I don’t have any. Can’t even think of something to nitpick.
Totally going to make these. Any and every time we eat something that needs tortillas. So happy I found this recipe and even happier I decided to make it!
