DIY: Toddler Thanksgiving Snacks

With Thanksgiving coming up soon, and my son’s class having a Thanksgiving party, it was time to bust out creative snack ideas. It had to be cute and turkey related. Plus friendly enough for two year-olds to eat. Thank goodness for Pinterest because I, along with some suggestions from the other mom helping with the party, was able to find some awesome DIY Toddler Thanksgiving Snacks.

DIY Toddler Thanksgiving Snacks

At first I thought of only doing one snack. After seeing some of these idea, I couldn’t stop at one and made two. These are super simple snacks to make. However, they are a bit time consuming.

The two snacks I chose were the Popcorn Goldfish Turkey gloves and Cheesestick Turkeys. Each had it’s unique challenge but overall they were simple to handle. I’m not amazing at crafty things and even I managed to pull these off. (Which means, you can too!)

TURKEY GLOVES

The hardest part of the turkey gloves is stuffing the goldfish down in the fingers. I let my perfectionist side take control and sorted the goldfish by color. Each “feather” got to be its own color. I also didn’t have time or materials to do a good felt beak and waddle but drew them on. Fortunately, I did have googly eyes. (Isn’t everything better with googly eyes??)

CHEESESTICK TURKEY

The hardest part of the Cheesestick turkey was getting the “feathers” to stick to the body. Other than that, this was incredibly easy to make. I did not put googly eyes on these because of size. (And no one wants to be the mom responsible for a child in school swallowing a very small googly eye.) So the faces for these were also drawn on.

So if you need a fun way to make a Thanksgiving snack, especially to tide your kiddo over while dinner cooks, I highly recommend these two snacks! What are your favorite Thanksgiving snacks for kids?
